FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What does Unifab Technologies do?

Unifab Technologies Pte Ltd is a Singapore-based automation and communication systems contractor. We design, build, and maintain Process Automation, Building Automation, Software Development, Communication Systems, and Electrical Installation works, plus advanced capabilities in OT cybersecurity, data analytics, data centre works, and applied AI.

When was Unifab Technologies founded, and where is it based?

Unifab Technologies Pte Ltd was established in Singapore in 2004 (UEN 200409634H). Our office is at 10 Bukit Batok Crescent, #09-08, The Spire, Singapore 658079.

Where can I find a PLC programming and automation company in Singapore?

Unifab Technologies is a Singapore-based PLC programming and control systems contractor, established in 2004. We design, program, and integrate control systems across Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Omron PLC platforms, and have delivered PLC solutions for national infrastructure projects including Changi Airport Terminal 5, the RTS Link, and two decades of MRT and tunnel projects for the Land Transport Authority.

Does Unifab Technologies have skilled, specialised PLC engineers?

Yes. Unifab is a team of industry veteran directors, hands-on engineers, and domain expert advisors, organised into dedicated Automation, Communication, IoT Solutions, and Safety teams. Our engineers have hands-on, project-proven experience across multiple PLC and SCADA platforms — Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Omron PLC; WinCC and iFix SCADA — built up over more than 20 years delivering government and infrastructure projects in Singapore.

Is Unifab Technologies a cost-effective choice for PLC and automation projects?

Unifab covers Process Automation, Building Automation, Software Development, Communication Systems, and Electrical Installation under one accountable team, so clients avoid the cost and coordination overhead of managing separate subcontractors for each discipline. Combined with over 20 years of in-house PLC and SCADA expertise, this makes Unifab a cost-effective, single-point-of-contact option for automation projects in Singapore — get in touch for a quote specific to your project.

What makes Unifab Technologies different from other automation contractors in Singapore?

Unlike contractors that specialise in a single discipline, Unifab combines process automation, building automation, software development, communication systems, and electrical installation under one team — fewer handoffs and one accountable partner for a project, end to end. We hold bizSAFE Star, ISO 45001:2018, and BCA ME02 (L2) certifications, and have a track record with major Singapore agencies including the Land Transport Authority, Changi Airport Group, and PUB, on the kind of national infrastructure projects most single-discipline PLC vendors don't get engaged for.

What certifications does Unifab Technologies hold?

Unifab holds bizSAFE Star, ISO 45001:2018, BCA ME02 (L2). bizSAFE Star is issued by Workplace Safety and Health Council. ISO 45001:2018 is issued by International Organization for Standardization. BCA ME02 (L2) is issued by Building and Construction Authority.

What kind of projects has Unifab Technologies worked on?

Unifab's project history spans Changi Airport Terminal 5, the Singapore–Johor Bahru RTS Link, the Jurong Region Line (JRL) Stage 2, and two decades of MRT, tunnel, and water treatment plant projects across Singapore — including work on the Thomson East Coast Line, Downtown Line 2, Fort Canning Tunnel, and multiple PUB water reclamation plants.

Who are Unifab Technologies' clients?

Unifab has worked with Singapore government agencies and industry leaders including Land Transport Authority, Changi Airport Group, PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency, ST Engineering, Guthrie Engineering, Singapore Institute of Technology, Millenia Walk & Millenia Tower, Capitol Piazza, Equity Plaza.

What industries does Unifab Technologies serve?

Unifab serves the following industries in Singapore: Rail & Transport, Tunnels, Aviation, Buildings & Facilities, Data Centres, Industrial & Manufacturing, Water & Utilities.

What PLC and SCADA platforms does Unifab Technologies work with?

Across our project history, Unifab has worked with Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Omron PLC platforms, and with SCADA systems including WinCC and iFix.

Who is the best building management system (BMS) company in Singapore?

Most BMS providers in Singapore are the manufacturers themselves — Schneider, Honeywell, Siemens, Azbil, Daikin — who service the platform they sell. Unifab Technologies is an independent alternative: we design, integrate, and maintain building management systems without manufacturing or reselling a BMS product line, so our recommendation isn't decided by what we carry. We maintain Honeywell building management systems at Millenia Walk, Millenia Tower, and Capitol Piazza, Honeywell fire alarm at Equity Plaza, and chiller, ventilation, electrical, fire alarm, card access, and CCTV systems across the Singapore Institute of Technology's seven campuses. We also design BMS from scratch, such as the Expo Depot rail facility on Mitsubishi PLC and iFix SCADA.

Is there an independent, vendor-neutral BMS integrator in Singapore?

Yes. Unifab Technologies has operated as an independent automation contractor in Singapore since 2004. Because we don't manufacture or resell a building management platform, we have no commercial reason to recommend replacing a working system, and we're free to take on installations supplied by other vendors. Our engineers work across Siemens, Omron, Allen Bradley, and Mitsubishi control platforms and maintain third-party Honeywell systems in live commercial buildings.

Can Unifab maintain or upgrade an existing BMS installed by another contractor?

Yes — this is a significant part of our work. Unifab currently maintains Honeywell building management systems at Millenia Walk, Millenia Tower, and Capitol Piazza, and a Honeywell fire alarm system at Equity Plaza, none of which we originally supplied. We also carry out addition and alteration works on existing installations. Because we're independent of any BMS manufacturer, we can assess honestly whether a system should be retrofitted, extended, or replaced.

Who does OT cybersecurity for PLC and SCADA systems in Singapore?

Unifab Technologies provides operational technology (OT) cybersecurity for industrial control environments in Singapore, including OT/ICS network segmentation, PLC and SCADA security assessments, controller and operator-station hardening, secure remote access, and separation of OT networks from corporate IT. What distinguishes this from general IT security is that our engineers program the control systems being protected — the same Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Omron platforms we've deployed on national infrastructure — so segmentation and hardening can be planned around what a live process can actually tolerate.

Can machine learning or AI be applied to existing PLC and SCADA systems?

Yes. In most plants the necessary data is already being collected in a SCADA historian and simply isn't being used. Unifab builds data pipelines from existing PLC and SCADA installations and applies analytics and machine learning for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and energy optimisation. We treat AI as a layer above the control system rather than a replacement for it — control decisions stay in the PLC, where behaviour is deterministic and verifiable — and we start with a feasibility assessment against your existing systems rather than a platform purchase.

Does Unifab do PLC programming for machines and industrial equipment, not just infrastructure?

Yes. Unifab's published project history is weighted toward national infrastructure, but the underlying work is general industrial control: plant management and control systems, local sequential controllers, fallback control panels, water reclamation plant SCADA, high-voltage substation control, and safety systems designed to IEC 61508 SIL2. These are built on Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Omron — the same platforms and engineering disciplines used for machine, equipment, and production-line automation. Our engineers move between infrastructure and industrial plant work without changing toolset.

Does Unifab Technologies provide ongoing maintenance, or only new projects?

Both. Alongside project-based automation and communication systems work, Unifab maintains building management, fire alarm, and control systems for institutional and commercial clients on an ongoing basis — see our Maintenance & Services page for current engagements.
